Ingredients
  

  • Apple Filling:
  • 6 cups peeled sliced apples
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water
  • Biscuit Topping:
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter cold, cubed
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: Vanilla ice cream powdered sugar
  • Suggested Pairings: Hot coffee whipped cream

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F; grease 9x9-inch dish.
  • Toss apples with lemon juice, sugars, spices, cornstarch, and water; taste and adjust; transfer to a dish.
  • Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt; cut in butter; add milk, vanilla.
  • Drop topping over apples.
  • Bake 35–40 min until golden, bubbly.
  • Serve in a white ceramic dish or platter with ice cream, powdered sugar, coffee, and cream.

Notes

  • Use tart apples for balance.
  • Store in fridge for 4 days or freeze for 2 months.
  • Try gluten-free or caramel variation.
  • Pair with cider.
