Instructions
Toss apples with lemon juice, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Taste and adjust the sweetness.
Whisk cornstarch and water for slurry.
Melt butter in saucepan, cook apples 5–7 minutes, add slurry, cook 2–3 minutes until thick.
Cool slightly or completely for pie.
Serve in a white ceramic bowl with cinnamon stick, cider.
Notes
Use mixed apples for complex flavor.
Store in the fridge for 5 days or freeze for 3 months.
Try vegan or low-sugar variations.
Pair with ice cream.
