Biscuits Recipe: Flaky and Buttery

Flaky Southern-style buttermilk biscuits.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp cold butter cubed
  • 1 cup cold buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • Optional: Honey jam
  • Suggested Pairings: Eggs coffee

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F; line a baking sheet.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  • Stir in buttermilk until just combined.
  • Pat dough to 1-inch thick, fold 3 times, and pat to 3/4-inch. Cut biscuits.
  • Brush with melted butter; bake for 12-15 minutes.
  • Serve with honey, jam, eggs, and coffee.

Notes

  • Keep ingredients cold.
  • Store at room temperature for 2 days or freeze unbaked for 2 months.
  • Try a cheesy variation.
  • Pair with fruit.
