Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9-inch baking dish.
Toss blackberries with sugar, lemon juice, zest, cornstarch, and vanilla. Taste and adjust the sweetness. Pour into a dish.
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter. Stir in milk and egg.
Drop batter over filling. Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Serve in a white ceramic dish with blackberries, powdered sugar, ice cream, and coffee.
Notes
Use fresh blackberries for the best flavor.
Store in the fridge for 3 days or freeze for 2 months.
Try vegan or mixed berry variations.
