Buttercream Frosting Recipe: Smooth and Sweet

Smooth Buttercream Frosting for desserts.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • ¼ cup heavy cream or milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt
  • Optional: Sprinkles edible flowers, food coloring
  • Suggested Pairings: Chocolate cake coffee

Instructions
 

  • Beat butter for 2-3 minutes until creamy.
  • Add powdered sugar 1 cup at a time, beating until smooth.
  • Add cream, vanilla, and salt; beat for 2-3 minutes until fluffy.
  • Add food coloring if desired.
  • Spread or pipe on cooled desserts; garnish with sprinkles. Serve with cake and coffee.

Notes

  • Use room-temperature butter for smoothness.
  • Store in the fridge for 1 week or freeze for 3 months; re-whip before use.
  • Try a chocolate variation.
  • Pair with cupcakes.
