Ingredients
  

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • Optional: 1/2 tsp sea salt flakes

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F; line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy; add eggs and vanilla.
  • Mix in dry ingredients until just combined; fold in chocolate chips and optional nuts.
  • Scoop 2-tbsp dough balls onto sheets, 2 inches apart; sprinkle with optional sea salt.
  • Bake 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Cool 5 minutes on sheets, then on a rack.

Notes

  • Chill dough for thicker cookies.
  • Slightly underbake for chewy texture.
  • Store in an airtight container.
  • Serve with milk or coffee.
