Ingredients
  

  • Cornbread:
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • Dressing:
  • 6 cups crumbled cornbread
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 celery stalks chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 tbsp fresh sage chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Optional: Chopped parsley crumbled bacon
  • Suggested Pairings: Roasted turkey sweet tea

Instructions
 

  • Bake cornbread at 425°F for 20–25 min; cool and crumble.
  • Sauté onion, celery, and garlic in butter for 5–7 min.
  • Mix cornbread, vegetables, broth, eggs, herbs, salt, and pepper.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning.
  • Bake in an 8x8-inch white ceramic dish at 350°F for 30–35 min.
  • Serve with parsley, bacon, turkey, and tea.

Notes

  • Use day-old cornbread for texture.
  • Store in the fridge for 4 days or freeze for 2 months.
  • Try a vegan or sausage variation.
  • Pair with collard greens.
