Ingredients
  

  • Donuts:
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup whole milk warmed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Glaze:
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: Powdered sugar cinnamon sugar
  • Suggested Pairings: Coffee milk

Instructions
 

  • Combine warm milk, 1 tbsp sugar, and yeast; let sit 5–10 min until foamy.
  • Mix flour, sugar, salt, butter, eggs, vanilla, and yeast mixture; knead 5–10 min.
  • Taste and adjust dough seasoning.
  • Let dough rise 1–1.5 hours; cut into 12 donuts, rise 30–45 min.
  • Fry at 350°F for 1–2 min per side; drain.
  • Dip in glaze; serve on a white ceramic platter with powdered sugar, coffee, and milk.

Notes

  • Maintain oil at 350°F for frying.
  • Store unglazed at room temperature for 2 days or freeze for 2 months.
  • Try a vegan or chocolate glaze variation.
  • Pair with fresh berries.
