Homemade Hamburger Buns Recipe: Soft and Golden

Soft, golden hamburger buns for burgers.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp butter melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds optional
  • Optional: Butter sea salt
  • Suggested Pairings: Burgers iced tea

Instructions
 

  • Mix milk, sugar, and yeast; let foam 5-10 min.
  • Add egg, butter, salt, and flour; knead 8-10 minutes.
  • Let the dough rise 1-1.5 hours until doubled.
  • Divide into 8 pieces; shape buns, rise 30-45 min.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F; brush with egg wash, add seeds.
  • Bake 15-18 minutes until golden.
  • Serve on a wooden tray with butter, burgers, and iced tea.

Notes

  • Check the milk temperature for yeast.
  • Store at room temperature for up to 3 days, and freeze for 2 months.
  • Try a vegan variation.
  • Pair with coleslaw.
