Homemade White Bread Recipe: Soft, Fluffy

Classic soft, fluffy homemade white sandwich bread

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups warm water 105–110°F
  • cup granulated sugar
  • tbsp active dry yeast
  • tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ cup oil or melted butter
  • 6 –6½ cups bread flour

Instructions
 

  • Dissolve sugar + yeast in warm water; proof 10 min.
  • Add salt, oil, and flour; mix to smooth dough.
  • Knead 6–8 min until elastic.
  • First rise 45–60 min until doubled.
  • Shape into 2 loaves; second rise 30–45 min.
  • Bake at 350°F for 30–35 minutes until golden.
  • Brush with butter; cool.

Notes

• Bread flour = tallest loaf
• Don’t skip the butter brush
• Freezes perfectly
• Try honey wheat or cinnamon variation
• Never buy store bread again
