Mashed Sweet Potato Recipe: Creamy Autumn Comfort

A creamy, sweet mashed sweet potato side dish, ideal for holidays or dinners.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs sweet potatoes about 3-4 medium
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup whole milk or heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup optional, for added sweetness
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • tsp ground nutmeg
  • Optional: 1/4 tsp vanilla extract for warmth
  • Optional: 2 tbsp chopped pecans or fresh chives for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Peel and cut sweet potatoes into 1-inch chunks.
  • Boil in salted water for 15-20 minutes until tender.
  • Drain, return to pot, and heat 1-2 minutes to dry.
  • Mash with butter, milk, maple syrup, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and optional vanilla.
  • Adjust seasoning and consistency with more milk if needed.
  • Garnish with pecans or chives; serve hot.

Notes

  • Use firm sweet potatoes for best flavor.
  • Dry potatoes to avoid runny mash.
  • Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • Serve with roasted meats or greens.
