Teriyaki Sauce Recipe: Sweet and Savory

- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup mirin
- ¼ cup sake or water
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Optional: Sesame seeds green onions
- Suggested Pairings: Grilled meats stir-fried rice
Combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, honey, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil in a saucepan; heat until sugar dissolves, for 2-3 minutes.
Mix cornstarch with water; add to saucepan. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
Cool slightly; adjust seasoning.
Serve in a white ceramic bowl with sesame seeds; use as a marinade, glaze, or dip with rice, meats.
